Introduction
This notice explains how People Make Things, Inc. (People Make Things, we, us) handles personal information in Sunny, its associated website and support channels (the Service). It does not govern unrelated People Make Things products or independent third-party services. The Terms of Service describe the rules for using the Service. This notice is not a substitute for any separate consent required by law.
1. Who is responsible
People Make Things, Inc. is a Delaware corporation. Our legal mailing address is 2261 Market Street, STE 35679, San Francisco, CA 94114, United States. Contact: team@sunny.site.
2. Information covered
The proposed data inventory is: account details, such as name, email and account identifier; submissions, such as ratings, pairwise choices, preference judgments, labels and written feedback; associated task and model identifiers, timestamps and quality signals; technical information, such as IP address, device/browser information, logs and interaction events; support correspondence; and, if rewards are offered, eligibility, payout and transaction records. Self-reported age, gender, and similar demographic information you choose to provide. Approximate location based on IP address. We do not collect precise device location. Information we derive from the above to understand how customers use our services.
We do not collect or retain your voice or audio recordings through any mode of the Service. We do not create voiceprints from your voice or obtain a license to clone your voice through the Service. Audio provided by the Service for listening or evaluation, if any, is distinct from audio collected from you. Do not submit private or sensitive information about yourself or others in free-text fields.
3. Sources
Information may come from your account registration, task participation and communications; from the operation of the app and website; and from sign-in or payout services you choose to use. We do not import external profile or data-broker information beyond the sign-in information described below. If you choose to log into our service using a third-party account (for example, Google, Microsoft, or another single sign-on provider), we receive information from that provider as permitted by your settings with the provider, including your name, email address, and profile identifier. The provider’s use of any data you share with it remains governed by the provider’s privacy policy, not ours.
4. Device permissions
The Service does not collect user audio, including uploads, and does not request microphone access. You can change these permissions at any time in your device settings. Optional permissions, if offered, will be explained when requested and can be managed through device settings. We will identify any feature that depends on an optional permission.
5. Purposes
Subject to the confirmed data inventory, we use information to maintain accounts, deliver tasks and results, administer eligible rewards, respond to support requests, prevent abuse, assess contribution quality, understand product performance and meet legal duties. Research, evaluation, training and third-party dataset uses are described separately below; they are not implied by a general product-improvement statement. We log in-app clicks and actions for safety and abuse prevention. We use automated contribution-quality and fraud checks, which may result in rejected work, withheld rewards or account suspension. No general appeal process for quality scores is offered unless required by law; statutory privacy appeal rights remain available. This appeal process applies to privacy-rights requests where required by law; it is not a formal appeal process for automated quality scores, unless applicable law requires one.
6. Aggregated and de-identified information
We may produce statistics and datasets that no longer reasonably identify a person. Removing a name alone does not necessarily make data anonymous. Where we rely on legal de-identification standards, we will apply the required safeguards and recipient restrictions. Information that can still be linked to a person remains subject to this notice. We publicly commit to maintain and use this data only in de-identified form and not to attempt to re-identify it, and we contractually require the same of any recipients.
7. Recipients
Depending on the features used, recipients may include hosting and infrastructure providers, authentication services, analytics and support vendors, payment providers, authorized reviewers, professional advisers and authorities where legally required. A corporate transaction may also involve disclosure subject to applicable protections. Independent research or commercial recipients of contribution datasets are addressed in Sections 8 and 9. Profiles and contributions are not visible to other users or the public. Service providers and sub-processors that operate our infrastructure, payments, analytics, communications, automated quality scoring, human review and labeling, and similar functions. We bind them by written agreements that limit their use of personal information to providing services to us. A current list of our sub-processors is available on request at team@sunny.site.
8. Sale and advertising-related sharing
We may license or sell datasets containing non-audio ratings, comparisons, preferences, labels, written feedback, demographics, user identifiers and associated task metadata to research and commercial AI partners for the uses described in Section 9. Such disclosures may be a sale of personal information under applicable law even when direct identifiers are removed. We will provide required notices, obtain required consent and honor applicable opt-out rights before covered disclosures.
We also “share” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as that term is defined under California law. This includes our use of third-party advertising and tracking technologies such as Google Ads, Meta Pixel (Facebook), Twitter (X) Pixel, and TikTok Pixel. The categories of personal information we share for that purpose are: device identifiers and advertising IDs. Requests may be directed to the contact in Section 22. You can opt out of both the sale and the sharing of your personal information by visiting Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information, by sending a Global Privacy Control signal through your browser, by changing the relevant account setting, or by contacting us at team@sunny.site. If you opt out, you can keep using the Service, but coin earning pauses because Rewards are consideration for the data you share.
9. AI research, evaluation and training
Non-audio contributions and associated metadata may support benchmarking, evaluation, preference learning, model training and improvement of People Make Things systems and, where separately disclosed and lawfully authorized, partner systems. This includes feedback about audio or model outputs, not recordings of your own voice. The Service does not obtain rights to reproduce your voice, create a replica of you or sell your voice recordings.
Where consent is the legal basis, you may withdraw it using the contact below. Withdrawal does not retroactively invalidate lawful earlier processing. We will assess deletion requests under applicable law, including with respect to recipients. Technical difficulty removing an influence from a trained model is not a blanket exception to privacy rights. You may decline training and licensing and continue using Sunny, subject to the reward consequences in Section 17. You can withdraw consent at any time by contacting us at team@sunny.site or by changing the relevant setting in your account.
10. Cookies and similar tools
We use cookies and similar technologies to operate our site and product, remember your preferences, understand usage, and measure the effectiveness of our communications. These fall into four types: essential cookies required for the site and product to function (such as authentication and security); functional cookies that remember your preferences and settings; analytics cookies that help us understand how our services are used; and advertising cookies that measure the effectiveness of our communications and support the advertising described in the Sale and Sharing of Personal Information section. Disabling non-essential cookies through your browser will not prevent core features from working. You can control cookies through your browser settings. We do not currently respond to “Do Not Track” signals because there is no industry consensus on how to interpret them. We honor opt-out preference signals recognized under applicable law, including the Global Privacy Control (GPC). When we detect such a signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information associated with that browser or device.
11. Communications
We may send marketing emails. You can unsubscribe using the link in a marketing email or by contacting us. Necessary account, security and legal messages may continue. Service emails (about your account, billing, security, or required notices) will continue.
12. Privacy choices and rights
Depending on applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion or a portable copy; object to or restrict certain processing; withdraw consent; opt out of covered sales, advertising sharing or profiling; and seek review of qualifying automated decisions. We will not unlawfully penalize you for exercising these rights. Any lawful incentive consequences must be disclosed separately.
13. Submitting a request
Send requests to team@sunny.site with enough information to identify the relevant account and requested action. We may request proportionate verification but will not ask for unnecessary information. Authorized agents may act where the law permits. We will respond within the applicable statutory period, explain permitted extensions or denials and provide appeal information where required. We will verify your identity before responding. We will respond free of charge within thirty days, with one extension permitted by law if a request is complex; if we need more time, we will tell you before the initial period ends. We will tell you if we cannot fulfill the request, and why. You can use an authorized agent. Provide written permission from you and identification for the agent.
14. Retention and deletion
We retain personal information only for a justified period tied to the relevant purpose and legal requirements. Criteria include account operation, support, fraud prevention, payouts, tax obligations and disputes. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or appropriately de-identify it. Requests affecting licensed datasets will be assessed and communicated to recipients where required by law or contract. We do not promise that deletion reverses every effect of prior lawful model training, nor treat licensing as overriding statutory deletion rights.
When we no longer need it, we delete or anonymize it. If you close your account, it is locked immediately, your contributions are excluded from further data sharing straight away, and the underlying records are permanently erased after a hold of twenty-one days, subject to records kept for legal, accounting, fraud-prevention, or dispute-resolution reasons.
15. Security
We apply safeguards appropriate to the information and risks involved. No online service can guarantee perfect security. We will address security incidents and give required notices under applicable law. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee that information will never be accessed by unauthorized parties. We will notify you of a breach affecting your personal information as required by law.
16. Children
Sunny is intended only for people aged 18 or older. We ask users to self-report their age during onboarding and designate the app for adults in the app store. Users who report being under 18 are not eligible to use Sunny. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action. Age is self-reported during onboarding, and users who self-report that they are under 18 are blocked. If you believe someone under 18 has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
17. Rewards and incentives
Sunny offers coin rewards for eligible non-audio labeling contributions and related data used for AI development and licensing. Coins are redeemable at 1,000 coins = $1 USD through PayPal, Venmo or gift cards, subject to the cash-out minimum shown in the app, between $3 and $5 USD. Participation is voluntary. You may decline training or licensing and continue using Sunny, but future coin earning pauses. We obtain opt-in where required. Good-faith value estimate: we calculate the value of your data based on the revenue we reasonably expect to receive from AI Partners for contributed data, less our costs of collection, de-identification, quality scoring, human labeling, and processing, which we currently estimate as the cash value of the redeemable coins you earn, using the redemption rate of 1,000 coins = $1 USD. Participation is voluntary. You opt in by enabling contributions and can withdraw at any time by disabling contributions or contacting us at team@sunny.site; if you withdraw, coin earning pauses.
18. United States regional rights
State privacy laws may provide additional access, deletion, correction, portability, opt-out, sensitive-data and appeal rights. Where applicable, California residents will receive required collection, disclosure and sale/sharing information and may use authorized agents and recognized opt-out signals. Requests and appeals can be sent to the contact below. If applicable state privacy law gives you the right to appeal our denial of a privacy request, you may appeal by contacting us at team@sunny.site with “Appeal” in the subject line. We will respond to your appeal within the time required by law. If your appeal is denied, you may contact your state Attorney General’s office to lodge a complaint.
19. International users
Sunny is offered only in the United States. People Make Things is based in the United States, and Sunny data is stored and processed in the United States. We process personal information in the United States.
20. External services
Links and optional integrations may take you to services operated by others. Their own privacy notices govern their independent activities. A link does not mean we control or endorse those activities.
21. Updates
We will revise this notice when practices or legal requirements change, update its effective date and provide any required notice or renewed consent before applying material changes.
